This bushing was created for the purpose of being the application between the cone gear and the upper middle body, meaning it separates the faces of these two plastic pieces while allowing a certain amount of movement. This helps decrease the amount of wear that these two parts would create without it, meaning they would have to be replaced on a regular basis which would become very costly in both time and money.
This part is Red yet larger than the cone spindle gear so that way the gear can easily fit inside of it. Now this part can wear or deteriorate over the length of time and use of the cleaner. So its always good to check these parts periodically and replace when needed.
